jccv-lively-walking-group-image

The JCCV Lively Walkers will continue their sociable group walks on alternate Friday mornings at 9:30, starting on January 20th with the Westsong Way. This new series of easy-to-moderate walks starts from a variety of spots in the Greater Victoria area, taking in parks, waterfront and some lesser-known trails and footpaths.

Any new walkers not already on the emailing list please send your contact info to Juliet Simon, volunteer walks leader, at jhsimon@shaw.ca, to be informed each time of the precise starting point and walk details by the Wednesday preceding the walk.

Walks take place rain or shine. If you are moderately fit and enjoy group walking, you are invited to join in. Routes of approximately 1.5 hour’s duration take in a variety of spots around town. After each walk there’s an optional café stop. The goals are good health and camaraderie. No need to commit to the whole series; come when you can.

Renewed JCCV Library Open

Welcome to the renewed library at the Jewish Community Centre of Victoria!

Our collection consists of several hundred books organized by topic and alphabetically by author within the topics. These include: Jewish History, The Holocaust, Art and Photography, Israel, Biography, Humour and many more.

Some books are honourably old and have been instructive and entertaining to many. Others are younger. All await your interest and attention. We encourage you to drop in, browse and borrow. Borrowing is easy; it works on the honour system. Just fill in the card from inside the book, leave it in the designated box and enjoy reading your chosen material for as long as you need. Please return it to the designated basket.

Much of the collection on the shelves was generously donated. To avoid duplication, we ask that anyone wishing to donate books in good condition first send along a list of titles and authors to the librarians. To make arrangements for donations, please contact Coral Grant at mdonk@telus.net or Juliet Simon at jhsimon@shaw.ca.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all past JCCV librarians who have spent countless hours gathering, organizing and cataloguing these materials. Our collection is of great relevance to members of the JCCV and the larger community.
