JCCV FILM NIGHT on Monday, March 12th at 7:00 pm

THE SINGING REVOLUTION

2006 (87 minutes); Narrated by Linda Hunt

An inspiring and gripping film:
The story of how feelings became songs, songs became a national voice, and voice became action. A single nation…a million voices…the fall of an empire.
Imagine the scene in “Casablanca” in which the French patrons in Rick’s Cafe began singing “La Marsellaise”…and you’ve only begun to imagine the force of “The Singing Revolution”.
Truly an uplifting piece of cinema!

Please join us for a fun evening of cinema…schmoozing…discussing and generally having a good time! State of the Art projection, large screen & great sound!

Snacks and cold drinks included in the $10 price of admission.

Always a classic cartoon and newsreel prior to the feature!

THE TWELVE CHAIRS

1970 (93 minutes); Directed by Melvin Kaminski, Starring Ron Moody, Dom DeLuise and Frank Langella

One of the funniest films of all time! The story is based on the Russian classic about a man whose mother confesses, on her deathbed, to having hidden the family fortune in the seat of one of a matched set of 12 chairs. She did this to hide her jewels from the recently victorious revolution. The story becomes a madcap chase across the whole of Russia looking for the chair.

Oh and by the way, the Director Melvin Kaminski is better known these days as Mel Brooks! ‘Nuff said!!

Please join us for a fun evening of cinema…schmoozing…discussing and generally having a good time! State of the Art projection, large screen & great sound!

Snacks and cold drinks included in the $10 price of admission.

Always a classic cartoon and newsreel prior to the feature!

BRIDE FLIGHT (BRUIDSVLUCHT)

Directed by: Ben Sombogaart (also directed de Tweeling (Twin Sisters)). 2 hr, 10 min.

If you haven’t seen this epic movie you are in for a real treat!

The scene is postwar Holland (1953). The war has left a lot of people at “loose ends”. Broken families have come to pass due to the loss of the colony of Indonesia, extraordinary war events, and a great flood.

The four main characters; Ada, Marjorie, and Esther emigrate to New Zealand where their prospective fiancées await them. Frank, a young man forced to relocate to Holland from a Japanese internment camp feels lost in his new home of Holland and decides to make a new life along with the three women.

Their stories intertwine beautifully as they look to discover new lives in the promised land of New Zealand.

If you like Dutch Cinema this one may floor you! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Snacks and cold drinks included in the $10 price of admission.
