Topic:          Keeping Our Politicians Honest

Speaker:     David Shugarman, Professor Emeritus and Senior Scholar, York University, will be drawing on his work from a recent co-edited book, Honest Politics Now: What Ethical Conduct Means in Canadian Public Life, to discuss various measures, traditional and innovative, that citizens can turn to in order to keep their politicians honest and their democracy meaningful.

Prior to moving to Victoria with his spouse Linda Scott, David taught at York University for almost 40 years. His teaching, research and publications spanned the fields of political philosophy, both historical and contemporary, Canadian politics, international relations and ethics. He also served for 11 years as the Master of McLaughlin College and for 5 years as the Director of York’s Centre for Practical Ethics.
