Topic: Robot Butlers: Is this the Future of Robot Technology?
Speaker: Dr. Nigel Livingston, School of Public Health and Social Policy, Faculty of Human and Social Development, University of Victoria
Dr. Livingston’s research interests are disability, assistive technology, policy and practices with respect to individuals with disabilities and their families, and disability supports and services. He founded the University of Victoria Assistive Technology Team, now CanAssist, an organization of the University of Victoria that is dedicated to helping people with disabilities improve their quality of life and to increasing awareness of disability issues.

The JCCV Lox, Stock & Bagel Deli will be closed on Tuesday, October 1st for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashana) and will be closed again on Wednesday, October 9th for Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).

This season, group walks open to all JCCV members who are moderately-fit walkers will take place on alternate Thursday mornings, rain or shine. Walks taking approximately 60 to 75 minutes will start at 9:30 a.m. from different spots in and around Victoria and will take us through parks and neighbourhoods, on easy trails and pedestrian pathways, with the aims of good health, enjoyment of our environment, and socializing. After each walk, there’s an optional café stop. No need to commit to the whole series; come when you can.
An email with information about the meeting place and venue is sent to those on the participants list a few days before each walk.
The first walk of the season is on Thursday, September 19th, 2019. For JCCV members who would like to join in, please sign up by sending an email with your name and phone number to volunteer leader Juliet Simon at jhsimon@shaw.ca.

This book club is organized by Linda Bonder, a retired professional librarian, and will meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 11:30 am (right before you have a great lunch at the JCCV deli!), starting on Thursday, October 17th.
